Pain Points:

  • UI could be Improved.

  • Landing UI. Here they are focusing too much on the recommended movie which is taking up the whole space of the screen.

  • The 10 lists should also be the focus.

  • A little bit of description of the movie.

  • Regional restriction.

  • Expensive plan.

  • Internet speed is needed.

  • Plenty of Netflix alternatives are available.

Goal:

  • Redefine the ways in which content can be discovered and consumed within the website in order to increase engagement and dwell time.

  • To make the web app more user-friendly and visually appealing.

  • Add features that are important and helpful for users.

The Challenges & Problem Statement:

Redesigning the Netflix Web app with a sole focus on visual design and user experience. Some of the key challenges include:

  • Content Curation: Curating a diverse and extensive collection of movies/shows requires careful selection and organization. Ensuring that users can easily browse and discover movies based on genres, ratings, weekly top 10 and other criteria is essential.

  • Movie/show Recommendation: Providing personalized movies/show recommendations based on user preferences, viewing history, and ratings can enhance the user experience. Developing an effective recommendation system that suggests relevant movies to users is a challenge.

  • User Interface Design: Creating a visually appealing and user-friendly interface for movie streaming requires attention to detail. Designing intuitive navigation, a clear movie information display and seamless playback controls is essential for a satisfying user experience.

Interview:

I conducted user research by defining a series of questions in order to better understand the experience of people. I created the survey by talking to my friends and faculty.

The participants were given a few questions:

  • How do you feel while using Netflix?

  • What things do you feel should be improved?

  • The main problem that should be improved immediately.

Conclusion

I had a blast working on this. I am certain that I have just touched the surface of the streaming platform and need a lot more contextual and user analysis to identify new challenges and needs. Based on the interviews with participants, I have devised a definite pattern. Does it symbolize that people who use Netflix have different perspectives while using it, Everybody comes with a different mindset. But I am sure users will agree with my research.
